JACKSON -- Joseph W. Kies of Phoenix, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 1991, at his home. He was 54.
He was born in Cape Girardeau on Sept. 26, 1943, the son of William Kies Jr. and Thelma Chron Kies. He grew up in Cape Girardeau, graduating from Central High School. After receiving degrees from William Jewell College and Arizona State University, he moved to Scottsdale, Ariz., where he worked as a teacher until his health forced him to retire.
He was an Eagle Scout and a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his mother, Thelma Kies of Jackson; a daughter, Dessie Kies of Peoria, Ariz.; and a brother, James Kies of Frankfurt, Ky.
Visitation will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Ford & Sons Mount Auburn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 1:30, with the Revs. Thomas Bass and Miles White officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
