Joseph Russell Prost, 65, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at Southeast Hospital.

He was born April 3,1946, in St. Louis, to Russell Joseph and Marie G. Rehm Prost. He and Terri Amrhein were married March 10, 2000, in Cape Girardeau.

Joseph was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He was a former trustee and officer of Elks Lodge 639. He worked as a special agent in the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of the Internal Revenue Service 28 years before retiring. Joseph was the representative in the southeast district of the Elks for veterans affairs. Other groups he was involved in were SEMO HOG, coaching soccer and the SEMO Law Enforcement Association.

Survivors include his wife, Terri Prost of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Craig (Leah) Prost of Bloomington, Ill., Chuck (Michelle) Prost of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Nina Prost and Louisea (Frank) Dietiker of Cape Girardeau, Bethany (Paul) Raines of Farmington, Mo.; a brother, Chris (Carol) Prost of St. Charles, Mo.; a sister, Barb (Ken) Kreussel of St. Louis; an uncle, Kenny (Dot) Rehm of Ste. Genevieve, Mo.; six grandchildren, Aiden Prost, Colby Prost, Joe Prost, Kate Prost, Kreszenz Prost and Lydia Dietiker.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford and John Hodges officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Bob Ward, Brad Gannon, Norm Tanner, Roger Hogan, Carson Kelley and Chris Beussink.

Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Temples, Dr. Gary Lowell and Dave Dively.

In lieu of flowers the family would like all donations to go to Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
