Joseph Ralph Mahy, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Nov. 20, 1998, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born Oct. 12, 1917, in Cape Girardeau, son of J. Roy and Myrtle Hartle Mahy. He and June Elizabeth Farrow were married Feb. 21, 1944.
Mahy owned and operated Mahy's Grocery Store 17 years, then formed Mahy's Construction Co., and after retiring farmed and raised livestock.
In 1974 he was selected to appear in Who's Who in Missouri as a contractor and realtor. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Men. He had been a member of Red and White Grocers Association.
Mahy was a graduate of Central High School.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Judith Shiffrin of Bloomington, Ind., Martha Warhurst of St. Clair; a sister, Mary Moll of St. Louis; a brother, Richard Mahy of Cape Girardeau, and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with Dr. Clayton Smith officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
