PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Joseph Lundy Jr., 79, of Perryville died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 28, 1923, in Butler County, Mo., to the late Joe Lundy and Lillian Sherrill Lundy. He and Viola Buchheit were married July 7, 1948. She died June 27, 1993.
He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II and was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, American Legion Post 133, VFW Post 4282, AmVets and DAV.
Survivors include three sons, Michael, Mark and John Lundy, all of Perryville; four daughters, Mary Ellen Lundy of St. Louis, Pat Baer, Carol Rhyne and Ann Koesterer, all of Perryville.
Also surviving are a brother, Chris "Buddy" Meinershagen and a sister, Margie Massey, both of California; 17 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today, with a Catholic wake at 7 p.m., American Legion wake at 7:15 p.m. and a VFW wake at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held from 6:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Young & Sons Chapel in Perryville.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Kevin Fausz officiating. Burial with military honors by Marine Guard of Honor will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.
