JONESBORO, Ill. -- Joseph Franklin Hileman, 75, of Jonesboro died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. JONESBORO, Ill. -- Joseph Franklin Hileman, 75, of Jonesboro died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 29, 1926, in Jonesboro, son of William Harrison and Nellie Ann Brown Hileman. He and Dorothy Harris were married Sept. 21, 1946, in Piggott, Ark.

Hileman owned and operated Hileman Texaco Station more than 40 years, retiring in 1988. He was elected to Jonesboro City Council in May 2001. He was a member of the United Methodist Church at Ware, Ill., and lifetime member of Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 in Anna, Ill.

He served with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Alvin C. Cockrell during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary Hileman of Grand Tower, Ill., Joey Hileman of Jonesboro; two sisters, Bernice Hileman of Jonesboro, Martha Dillow of Anna; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and four sisters.

Friends may call at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Prather officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery, with military rites conducted by VFW Post 3455.
