HAMMOND, Ind. -- Joseph E. Greaney, 79, of Hammond, Ind., died Saturday, Nov. 22, 1997, at Hammond. He was born Oct. 10, 1918, at Cairo, Ill., the son of Joseph P. and Margaret Murphy Greaney. HAMMOND, Ind. -- Joseph E. Greaney, 79, of Hammond, Ind., died Saturday, Nov. 22, 1997, at Hammond.

He was born Oct. 10, 1918, at Cairo, Ill., the son of Joseph P. and Margaret Murphy Greaney.

He is survived by a brother, Tom Greaney of Hammond, a sister, Mary Jane Perkins of San Antonio, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Chruch in Cairo.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo, with a rosary service at 7.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jerome Fortenberry officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery at Villa Ridge.
