Joseph Boyce Foushee, 80, of Bloomfield died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1999, at his home.

He was born May 13, 1919, to Arthur and Jessie May Foushee in Auvergne, Ark. He was married to Julia Ann Gaddis July 24, 1970.

Foushee was in the Army Air Corps. during World War II. He was the owner and founder of Foushee Candy Co. that was later sold to Anderson-Clark. He was a member of the Dexter Memorial Hospital board of directors for 12 years. He was a deacon at Mount Gilead General Baptist Church in Bloomfield and a member of the Bloomfield American Legion Post 382. He also farmed in Stoddard County for more than 30 years.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, David Boyce Foushee of Jackson and Robert Lynn Foushee of St. Louis; three daughters, Mayme Jo Nelson of Richardson, Texas, Jenny Lynne Roberson and Kathi Ann Smith, both of Bloomfield; two brothers, Keith Foushee of Poplar Bluff and C.J. Foushee of Bloomfield; three sisters, Maxine Pippens of Dexter, Louise LaRue of Eldorado, Ill., and Katherine Foster of Mayfield, Ky; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

There will be a visitation at 5 p.m. today at Rainey Funeral Chapel in Dexter.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Gerald King officiating. The burial will follow at Dexter Cemetery.
