Joseph Devenyns

PERRYVILLE, Mo. --Joseph C. Devenyns, 108, of Perryville died Friday, July 29, 2005, at Perry County Nursing Home.

He was born March 26, 1897, in Perry County, son of John and Leonie Martens Devenyns. He and Anna Steinbecker were married Aug. 1, 1922. She died June 22, 1983.

Devenyns was a retired farmer. He was a former member of Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Belgique, Mo., and a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Sereno, Mo. Devenyns was a member of Perry County Levee Commission for more than 30 years.

Survivors include two grandchildren, Tina Habeck and Robin Habeck; and three greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter and 10 brothers and sisters.

Friends may call from 2:30 to 9 p.m. today, with parish wake at 7 p.m. at Young and Sons Funeral Chapel. Visitation will continue from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Sereno, with the Rev. Francis Agnew officiating. Burial will be in Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery in Belgique.
