Jon E. Roberts, 86, of Jackson died Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born Nov. 23, 1918, at Essex, Mo., son of Ephriam and Minnie Cleveland Roberts. He married Kathryn Kimmich in 1948. She preceded him in death Nov. 12, 1966. He then married Frances Wood Neal in 1968...

Jon E. Roberts, 86, of Jackson died Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Nov. 23, 1918, at Essex, Mo., son of Ephriam and Minnie Cleveland Roberts. He married Kathryn Kimmich in 1948. She preceded him in death Nov. 12, 1966. He then married Frances Wood Neal in 1968.

Mr. Roberts retired from A.B. Dick Department of the Southeast Missourian. He was a member of La Croix United Methodist Church, member and past president of Breakfast Optimist Club.

He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in Europe during World War II, where he was a prisoner of war.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Russ Alderman of Germantown, Tenn., Julia and Bill Davis of Jackson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Sam and Sharon Stausing of Union, Mo., Richard W. and Sheryl Neal of Clifton Park, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, Dax Stausing of St. Louis, Dane Stausing of Scott City, Trevor Floyd and Travis Floyd of Venice, Fla., Lee Floyd of Franklin, Tenn., Katherine Davis, Joshua Davis and Claire Davis of Jackson; and a great-grandchild, Michael Lee Floyd III of Franklin.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ron Watts officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau, with graveside rites by Missouri Military Honors Program.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
