BENTON, Mo. -- Elmer Charles "Johnny" Wiedefeld, 84, of Benton died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, at his home.
He was born March 4, 1920, at New Hamburg, Mo., son of Joseph and Rosalie Scheeter Wiedefeld. He and Anna Marie Scheffer were married July 29, 1948, at Piggott, Ark.
Wiedefeld was a construction worker for Clinton Construction. He served with the U.S. Army in World War II.
He is survived by his wife of the home; a son, J.W. Wiedefeld of Benton; three sisters, Norma Miller and Laverne Ballard, both of Chaffee, Mo., and Viola Allen of Brookport, Ill.; three grandchildren, Mark Gibbar of Florida and Scott and Zachary Gibbar, both of Colorado; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Gibbar, and two sisters.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel at Benton with parish prayers at 6 p.m.
The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Denis Catholic Church at Benton. The Rev. Normand Varone will officiate. Burial will be at St. Denis Cemetery with military graveside rites by Missouri Honors Program.
