Pastor Johnny L. Seabaugh, 82, of Jackson passed away Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at his home.

He was born Dec. 16, 1933, in Perryville, Missouri, son of Elmer H. and Opal A. Reynolds Seabaugh. He and Jean Gibbons were married May 16, 1954.

Pastor Johnny was a 1951 graduate of Jackson High School. As a young man, he helped his father as a farm hand and truck driver on the family farm in Tilsit. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1955, was honorably discharged in 1957 and was then active in the National Guard for two years. Johnny worked in the trucking industry for many years and in several states, including Iowa, Arkansas and California, moving back to Missouri in 1979. He felt the call to enter the ministry in 1970 and by 1980 was a full-time pastor in Jackson at the Good New Christian Center. He was presently the associate pastor at Rock of Cape Church. He was a school bus driver for the Jackson School District for the past several years.

Loving survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jean; two sons, Mark (Vickie) Seabaugh of Delta and Kevin (Kelli) Seabaugh of Jackson; seven grandchildren, Nick, Chris, Kacie, Kayla, Justin, Kevin Lee and Trenton; six great-grandchildren, Lane, Hannah, Hunter, Holden, Jason and Austin; and a niece, Elizabeth Parr of Los Angeles.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Whitehead.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Mark Carbaugh and James Dillard officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, with an honor-guard graveside service.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to The Rock of Cape.
