Johnny Leroy Chiles, 56, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born May 14, 1941, in Chaffee, son of Curtis and Aline Treece Chiles.
He married Lawanda Thorne on June 28, 1996, in Cape Girardeau.
He was a cab driver for Nip Kelley Transportation for more than 30 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Curtis and Jackie Chiles, both of Michigan; five daughters, Janis and Janelle Chiles, both of Michigan, Jowanda, April and Tereasa Chiles, all of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, Steve Chiles of Chester, Ill., Cecil Chiles of Jackson and Lee Chiles of California; two sisters, Janet Seabaugh of Delta and Gettie Chiles of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel.
Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Williams Cemetery in Perkins with Cy Smith officiating.
