WAPPAPELLO -- Johnny C. Frix, 68, of Wappapello died Sunday, Jan. 26, 1997, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, following an extended illness.
He was born Feb. 5, 1928, in Jasper, Ala., son of John Malcomb and Cora Willis Frix. He and LaDora Greer were married June 7, 1980.
Frix was a retired heavy equipment operator. He moved to Wappapello 12 years ago from East Prairie. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael Frix of St. Louis; two daughters, Stella Mooring of Las Vegas, Nev., Phyllis McBride of St. Louis; a stepson, Stephen Harris of Viburnum; four stepdaughters, Joyce Davitz of Ellis Grove, Ill., Carolyn Dehner of DeSoto, LaDonna Carter and Karen Patrick of East Prairie; a brother, Buster Frix of Caruthersville; four sisters, Elsie Shelby of Wappapello, Lois Evans of Bloomfield, Inez Busby of St. Clair, Jeffie Goodrum and Anna Mann of Caruthersville; eight grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; 17 stepgrandchildren; and 10 great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Pastor Martin Lucas officiating. Burial will be in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
