CAIRO, Ill. -- Johnnie Perez, 67, of Cairo, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 1991, at the VA Medical Center in Marion.
He was born Aug. 16, 1924, in Anadarko, Okla., son of Pete and Susie Perez. He was formerly of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.
Perez served in the U.S. Army from 1943-64, retiring as a staff sergeant. During World War II he received a Purple Heart with three Bronze Stars.
Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Foster of Wickliffe, Ky.; a brother, Tony Smith of Ft. Walton Beach, and a sister, Helen Anderson of Lone Wolf, Okla.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Chapel in Villa Ridge. The Rev. Jerry Herring will officiate. Burial will be in National Cemetery at Mound City, with military rites by a unit from Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 9 a.m. until time of service.
