BERTRAND, Mo. -- Johnnie Lee Byford, 69, of Bertrand died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at his home.
He was born Feb. 26, 1932, in Mississippi County, son of George L. and Christeen White Byford. He and Ruth Brumley were married Nov. 13, 1954.
Byford retired in 1993 as a night watchman with Brown Shoe Co. in Charleston, Mo. He then worked as a veterinarian assistant for Dr. Sam Hunter. He was a member of Charleston Church of Christ.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Roger Byford of Bertrand; a daughter, Myra Minehart of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; a sister, Letha Brown of Charleston; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter and two brothers.
Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Bill Bradley officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
