Johnie Eaton

MOREHOUSE, Mo. -- Johnie H. Eaton, 82, of Morehouse died Saturday, March 20, 2004, at Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston, Mo.

He was born Oct. 16, 1921, at Gray Ridge, Mo., son of Charlie and Dellia Capps Eaton. He and Anna Corene Wader were married June 31, 1942, at Benton, Mo.

Eaton was water plant superintendent for the city of Morehouse 24 years, and a volunteer fireman more than 20 years. He was a member of General Baptist Church and Odd Fellows Lodge.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, William "Sonny" and Mike Eaton of Sikeston, Wayne and Jimmy Eaton of Morehouse; four daughters, Shirley Adams of Morehouse, Sue Goodman of McHenry, Ill., Barbara Elliott and Sherri Smith of Sikeston; three sisters, Annie Harlan and Marie Hill of Sikeston, Ruth Golf of Prairieville, Texas; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. The Rev. Walter Adams will officiate. Burial will be in Essex Cemetery at Essex, Mo.
