John C. Wiedefeld, 66, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 31, 1938, in Cape Girardeau, son of John Jacob and Marie Anna Landewee Wiedefeld. He and Phyllis Strop were married June 11, 1960, in Cape Girardeau.
Mr. Wiedefeld was a graduate of St. Mary's High School. He had worked at Sunny Hill Dairy, Ward's Big Star and Save-A-Lot. He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, 3rd Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 1111, and Cursillo.
He served in the National Guard.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Jim Keusenkothen of Jackson, Lori and Johnny Vavak and Jackie and Chris Farrow of Cape Girardeau, Allison and Scott Bomar of Thebes, Ill.; three brothers, Herman Wiedefeld of Jackson, Raymond Wiedefeld of Whitewater, Wayne Wiedefeld of Burfordville; and a sister, Mary Underwood of Burfordville.
Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, Josh, Jenny, Justin and Jacinta Keusenkothen; Jake and Jessie Vavak; Cody, Chelsea, Cortney and Caleb Farrow; and Paige, Megan, Hunter and Dylan Bomar.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7, followed by Knights of Columbus rosary.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
