SIKESTON -- John Wesley Yant, 78, of rural Sikeston died Saturday, Sept. 3, 1994, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born at Paragould, Ark., Sept. 8, 1915, the son of Moses Nathenal and Lou Annie Bazzel Yant.
He was a retired self-employed carpenter and Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Sikeston.
He married Mary Hamlett Feb. 13, 1953, at Morley. She survives.
Other survivors include five sons, James Yant of Birch Tree, Randy Yant of Dexter, David Yant of Fenton, and Mark and Steven Yant of Sikeston; one brother, Travis Yant of Sikeston; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be today, 5-9 p.m., at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel here.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First United Pentecostal Church in Sikeston with the Rev. Billie Butler officiating, assisted by the Rev. Jerald Hamlett. Burial will be in Garden of Memories here.
