John B. "Butch" Wells, 55, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, July 19, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 12, 1950, in Cape Girardeau, son of Robert H. and Jessie J. Sander Wells. He and Linda Freeze were married Dec. 27, 1979, in Jackson.
He served in the Marines from Feb. 5, 1969, to Jan.15, 1975.
John had worked on the river, was head of security at Procter & Gamble, and was with Homeland Security. He was a member of VFW Post 3838 and American Legion Post 63.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Wells; two sons, Jody Wells and Justin Wells of Columbia, Mo.; his mother, Jessie Putz of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Steve Wells and wife Linda of Jackson; and a nephew, John Wells and wife Kim of Bettendorf, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert H. Wells; and three sisters, Carol Wells, Sheila Wells and Debrah Wells.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Barry L. Pfanstiel officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Marine Corps League.
