COBDEN, Ill. -- John W. Johnson, 85, of Cobden, died Saturday, July 23, 1994, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Sept. 28, 1908, in Lafayette, Colo. He first married Edith Walker in 1928, who preceded him in death in 1981. He and Edith Rhodes were married in 1982.
Johnson was a retired laborer and former business agent with Local 1330 in Anna. He was a member of Anna Church of the Nazarene, and veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ivan Johnson of Midwest City, Okla., John Johnson of Joliet; two stepdaughters, Naomi Acklin of Jonesboro, Wilma Cain of Arcola; two stepsons, Charles Rhodes of Marianna, Fla., Ivan Rhodes of Lincoln, Mont.; three brothers, Harold, Roy and James Johnson of Michigan; a sister, Dorothy Barnsstable of Michigan; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, sister and two brothers.
Friends may call at Lutz & Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna after 6 p.m. today, and at Anna Church of the Nazarene after noon Wednesday.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Ralph Lee officiating. Burial will be in Cobden Cemetery.
