VILLA RIDGE, Ill. -- Funeral for John W. Spaulding of Villa Ridge will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge. The Rev. Ralph Kaufman will officiate. Burial will be in Cobden Cemetery in Cobden, Ill.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
Spaulding, 93, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Feb. 17, 1907, at Villa Ridge, son of Robert Limbert and Emma Louise Meyer Spaulding. He married Clara A. Spaulding, who died June 3, 1996.
A lifelong resident of Villa Ridge, Spaulding was a retired farmer and former vice president of First State Bank of Mounds, Ill. He was a member of Pulaski-Alexander Farm Bureau in Mounds; Polled Hereford Breeding Association in Kansas City, Mo., and attended Villa Ridge Union Church.
He was president of the former Rife Memorial School in Villa Ridge; past president of Meridian School Board in Mounds; and charter member and past president of Mississippi Coon Hunters Association.
Survivors include two sons, Robert "Bob" and Bill Spaulding of Villa Ridge; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
