John A. John A. Schott, son of the late John Nikolas Schott and Catherine Louise Burger was born Feb. 6, 1937, in Oran, Missouri, and departed his life Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 84 years,

He graduated from Moler Barber College and opened John’s Barber Shop in 1958. He was the owner and operator of the business for 32 years. During the 1970s barbering changed, and he took a job with the Missouri Highway Department for 26 years, but continued barbering part time for 14 years. John was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church, St. Joseph Sodality, Knights of Columbus Council 4311, past president of Guardian Angel Home and School, Oran City alderman and industrial development and enjoyed coaching little league and Junior Babe Ruth in Oran for over 20 years.

On April 27, 1957 he was united to JoAnn M. Hennemann in Benton, Missouri. She preceded him in death April 17, 2020. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. John and JoAnn spent many years dancing during which time they made many friends.

Survivors include three daughters, Cindy (Brent) Prindle of Pocahontas, Missouri, Denise (Greg) Menz of Benton, Missouri, and Rene (Jeff) Reinagel of Kelso, Missouri; two sons, Kent (Traci) Schott of Jackson, Tennessee, and Rick Schott of Jackson, Missouri; two brothers, A.J. Schott of Kelso and Melvin Schott of New Hamburg; one sister, Betty DeBrock of Blomeyer; 15 grandchildren, Randi Senciboy, Ryan Senciboy, Jack Laskowitz, Andy Laskowitz, Maggie Laskowitz, Derek Menz, Tyler Menz, Courtney Reinagel, Holly Reinagel, Miriam Schott, Gabriel Schott, Eli Schott, Tatum Schott, Lindi Lynch and Chad Prindle ; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. Parish prayer will be conducted at 6 p.m. Monday, followed by the Knights of Columbus service.

Eucharistic celebration will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran, with Father Joseph Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in the Guardian Angel Catholic Cemetery.
