SCOTT CITY -- John Schlenker, 90, of Scott City, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 1992, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau. He was born Aug. 14, 1902, in DuQuoin, Ill., son of Peter and Minnie Mae Bolen Schlenker. He and Earmel I. Hartle were married Jan. 3, 1929, at Charleston. She died June 5, 1980...

SCOTT CITY -- John Schlenker, 90, of Scott City, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 1992, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 14, 1902, in DuQuoin, Ill., son of Peter and Minnie Mae Bolen Schlenker. He and Earmel I. Hartle were married Jan. 3, 1929, at Charleston. She died June 5, 1980.

Schlenker was superintendent of Corps of Engineers 38 years. He was a member of Broadway Methodist Church and Retired Federal Employees Association.

Survivors include a son, Albert Schlenker of Scott City; two daughters, Marjorie Chronister of Dallas, Texas, Adajane Davis of Scott City; two brothers, Raymond Schlenker of Centralia, Ill., Edward Schlenker of Murphysboro, Ill.; three sisters, Ida Miller of Murphysboro, Lillian Myers of Centralia, Edna Pierce of Ava, Ill.; seven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four sons, two daughters, a brother and three sisters.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Burial will be in Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
