CHARLESTON -- John Henry Scheffer Jr., 48, of Greensboro, N.C., died Monday, Dec. 4, 1995, at his home, following an extended illness.
He was born Aug. 26, 1947, son of John H. and Rita Scheffer Sr. He and Deborah Barr were married June 14, 1969.
Scheffer graduated from St. Henry High School in 1965, and served in the U.S. Air Force. He moved to Greensboro in the early 1970s and started a high-rise window washing business with three of his brothers.
He was a member of St. Pius X Church and School, and of Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, John Scheffer III of Greensboro, Benjamin Scheffer of the home; two daughters, Jennifer Farmer of Greensboro, Kristen Scheffer of the home; four brothers, Gregory Scheffer of Concord, N.C., Charles Scheffer of Greensboro, Stephen Scheffer of Ft. Worth, Texas, Richard Scheffer of Charleston; five sisters, Ruth Kollmeyer and Rose Lund of Minneapolis, Minn., Mary Geraghy of Greensboro, Mary Wilson and Alice Harvell of Charleston, and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister.
Funeral service and burial will be in Greensboro.
