John Edward Rogers, 87, of Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, in Nogales.
He was born Dec. 17, 1913, in Burdine, Ky., son of James Leonard and Mary Goddard Rogers. He and Violet Marie Curry were married in Cape Girardeau. She died July 29, 1987.
Rogers was in the nursing home business in St. Louis 30 years, and operated a hotel in Nogales 18 years.
Survivors include three sons, Marcus Rogers of Cape Girardeau, Ron Rogers of St. Louis, Joe Rogers of Nogales; a daughter, Mia Rogers of Tucson, Ariz.; two brothers, David Rogers of Park Hills, Mo., Ray Rogers of Sarasota, Fla.; two sisters, Ruby McKenzie and Jeanette Ruby of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home after noon Monday.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Bill Kitchen will officiate. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
