ANNA, Ill. -- Funeral for John Ragsdale of Anna will be held at 11 a.m. today at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home. The Rev. Scott Harner will officiate, with burial in Casper Cemetery near Anna.
Ragsdale, 78, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at Union County Hospital.
He was born Oct. 11, 1920, in Makanda, son of William Calvin and Ada Cathern Darnell Ragsdale. He and Laura Westbrook were married May 11, 1943, at Jackson.
Ragsdale was a member of Operating Engineers Local 318, Teamsters Local 347, and was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Phyllis Vaughn of Anna; a son, Jack Stuber of Arcadia, Fla.; a brother, George Ragsdale of California; a sister, Ethel Harris of Makanda; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, and seven brothers and sisters.
