Gums, 83, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 1994, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born July 16, 1911, in Effingham, Ill., son of John and Anna Earlardt Gums. He and Kinuko Bondo were married Nov. 23, 1973, in St. Louis.

Gums was employed many years by the U.S. Department of Defense, retiring in July 1973. He had lived in Cape Girardeau since December 1973, and for 11 years worked part time at the Cape Girardeau Engineering Department.

Survivors include his wife; a son, John Gums of Springfield, Va., and two grandsons.
