SIKESTON - John R. Bartlett, 80, of Sikeston, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 1992, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Dec. 31, 1911, in Wyatt, Mo., son of John Henry and Nettie Vowels Bartlett.
He married Mildred Noyes on May 17, 1941.
Bartlett served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired after 46 years of working for the International Shoe Company.
After retirement, Bartlett repaired small appliances as a hobby.
Bartlett was a member of the Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church.
He served on the board of the Sikeston Rescue Mission and was a minister at Hunter Acres Caring Center in Sikeston.
Bartlett formerly attended Tanner Street Church of God where he served on the church board of trustees as the treasurer, and was a Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include his wife, a son, Michael Bartlett of Sikeston; two sisters, Dessie Ettel of San Diego, Calif., Doris Nickens of Amarillo, Tex., and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one great-grandson.
Friends may call at the Nunley Funeral Chapel in Sikeston from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today with the Rev. Dan Stoffel of the Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church officiating, assisted by the Rev. Vernon Guttenfelden. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
