CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. -- John W. Pylate Jr., 78, of Caruthersville died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at his home. He was born Nov. 30, 1921, at Kosciusko, Miss., son of John W. Pylate Sr. and Ada Bell Stokes. He and Eris Parker were married in Aug. 18, 1940. She survives...

CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. -- John W. Pylate Jr., 78, of Caruthersville died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at his home.

He was born Nov. 30, 1921, at Kosciusko, Miss., son of John W. Pylate Sr. and Ada Bell Stokes.

He and Eris Parker were married in Aug. 18, 1940. She survives.

He owned Pylate's Machine and Welding in Caruthersville. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a 32nd Degree Mason.

Other survivors include three daughters, Lynn Stewart of Meridian, Miss., Madge Winstead of Powder Springs, Ga., and Gayle Gorham of Jackson, Mo.; two sons, John W. "Buster" Pylate III and Jerry Marvin Pylate, both of Caruthersville; two brothers, C. Irving "Red" Pylate of Kosciusko, Miss., and William D. Pylate of Broken Arrow, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, two brothers and a sister.

Funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko, Miss. Burial will be in Parkway Cemetery.
