PERRYVILLE -- John J. "Sox" Prevallet, 76, of Perryville died Monday, April 6, 1998, at Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 25, 1921, at Perryville, son of John Leonard and Leona Moore Prevallet. He and Beatrice Y. Modde were married Nov. 13, 1954.
Prevallet owned and operated Gambles Hardware Store until retiring, and then worked at the Knights of Columbus clubroom, Kiefer Pontiac and Wrecker Service, and at Rozier's True Value, all in Perryville. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church, American Legion Post 133, VFW Post 4282, 4th Degree member of Knights of Columbus, and was charter member and grand shanker of Royal Order of Fleas.
Survivors include two daughters, Melanie Smith of DeLand, Fla., Deborah Prevallet of Sacramento, Calif.; a stepson, James Johnson of Perryville; two sisters, Aileen Fenwick and Linda Reiss of Perryville; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 4-9 p.m. today and Friday. The parish wake will be at 4:30 p.m. Friday, followed by the VFW wake at 6:45, and American Legion wake at 7.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Christ the Savior Church in Brewer.
