SIKESTON -- John H. Pobst, 73, of Sikeston died Sunday, May 3, 1998, at his home.
He was born Aug. 8, 1924, at Essex, the son of Henry and Iva Mobley Pobst. He and Mary L. Heath were married Jan. 9, 1950, at Piggott, Ark.
Pobst was a retired farmer.
He served in the Navy as a ship's cook second class during World War II.
He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sikeston. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Council 3151 in Sikeston, the Sikeston Masonic Lodge and the SEMO Shrine Club in Sikeston.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael Pobst of Sikeston; two daughters, Debby Holland and Pam Hunter, both of Sikeston; a brother, Floyd Pobst of Sikeston; a sister, Mamie Rogers of Flint, Mich.; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home by the Knights of Columbus Council 3151.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sikeston. Monsignor William Stanton will officiate. He will be assisted by the Rev. Robert Schumacher and the Rev. Amel Shibley. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
