John Ambrose Peek Jr., 72, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007, at Heartland Care Rehab Center.
He was born March 13, 1935, at Millersville, son of John Ambrose and Naida Kistner Peek Sr. He and JoAnna Dee Sachse were married March 23, 1958.
Mr. Peek was a 1955 graduate of Jackson High School. He worked at Western Auto in Jackson from 1963 to 1977, with Cape Girardeau School District and Nell Holcomb School from 1977 until retiring in 1992. He worked 20 years for Dr. William O.L. Seabaugh at Cape LaCroix Farms.
He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, was project leader of Young Americans 4-H Club and charter member of Harold O. Grauel Masonic Lodge 672 AF&AM in Cape Girardeau, and past master of West View Lodge 103 AF&AM at Millersville. Hobbies included crocheting rugs.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sandy Sue Peek and Kandy Lue Peek of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Gladys Tuschhoff of Fruitland, Velma (John E.) Crites of Cape Girardeau; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson. A Masonic service will be held at 7.
The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Sanderson, the Rev. Karen Mustoe and Bob Clark officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children.
