PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- John "Toby" Modde, 82, of Perryville passed away Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020, at his residence in Perryville. He was born Oct. 25, 1938, in Belgique, Missouri, to Edward L. and Marie C. PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- John "Toby" Modde, 82, of Perryville passed away Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020, at his residence in Perryville.

He was born Oct. 25, 1938, in Belgique, Missouri, to Edward L. and Marie C. Wood Modde.

He and Beatrice Prevallet were married April 1, 1989, in New Madrid, Missouri. She preceded him in death Jan. 20, 2016.

Toby served in the U.S. Army.

He was a truck driver for River Eagle Distributing in Cape Girardeau.

He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, VFW, American Legion, Past Commander of AmVets and Knights of Columbus 3rd Knight. Toby loved golfing, family and friends.

Survivors include sister, Mona (Don) Clements of Perryville; son, Jim (Dee) Johnson of Perryville; two daughters, Melanie (Trevor) Muir of Michigan and Debbie Prevallet of Colorado; two brothers, Larry "Pete" (Barb) Modde of St. Charles, Missouri, and Jerry (Sharon) Modde of St. Peters, Missouri; four grandchildren, Kim Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Nicole Bauer and Jesse Prevallet.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beatrice Modde; one brother, Terry Modde; three sisters, Lela Wriston, Nancy Hager and Patricia Tiehes; one infant sister, Betty Modde; one grandson, Nathan Smith.

Visitation will be 9:30 to 11:45 a.m. on Friday at Ford and Young Funeral Home in Perryville.

Funeral Mass will be at Noon Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville with the Rev. Brad Modde officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville. Military Honors by Delta Team and American Legion.

Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Vincent Education Foundation or St. Vincent Alumni Associations.
