PERRYVILLE -- John L. "Les" Mattingly, 83, of Perryville died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 1997, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 11, 1914, in Perry County, son of Vincent and Rosella Gibbar Mattingly. He and Renelda Franklin were married May 4, 1946, at Festus.
Mattingly was a farmer, and member of Christ the Savior Catholic Church at Brewer. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Yvonne Mattingly of Perryville, Andrea Mattingly of Billings, Mont., Pamela Richardet of High Ridge; a son, Norman Mattingly of Hillsboro; four brothers, Robert Mattingly of St. Mary's, Elvin, Cullen and Bert Mattingly, all of Perryville; three sisters, LaVerne Naeger and Lucille Griffard of Perryville, Verlene Mattingly of Cape Girardeau; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and a sister.
Friends may call at Miller Family Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. today, and Saturday from 6:30-9:40 a.m. The parish wake will be at 7 tonight, and the rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ the Savior Church, with the Rev. Felipe Martinez officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
