BENTON, Mo. -- John L. Mack, 77, of Benton died Monday, Aug. 15, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 29, 1939, in Benton to Chester Sylvester and Pauline Hefflin Mack.

He worked for Mack's Printing and the Southeast Missourian and was a laborer for Laborers Union Local 1104. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

He is survived by three daughters, Sheri (David) Grojean of San Antonio, Carol Mack of Benton and Rebecca (Mark Yant) Pobst of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, James Mack of Chaffee, Missouri, and David Mack of Benton; six sisters, Wanda Lee Rochelle of Ocoee, Florida, Glenda Ruth Gosnell of Lake City, Florida, Mary Lou Hinton of Sikeston, Missouri, Polly Ann Polacek of Waterloo, Illinois, Connie Fay Spence of St. Louis and Bonnie May Sitzes of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren, Jessica Grojean Carter, Jacob (Aileen) Grojean, Janina Grojean (Dom) Palacios, Matthew (Tara) Glastetter, Samantha (T.J.) Crowden and Adam James Glastetter; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sheila Ann Mack; and a sister, Dorothy Catherine Smith.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Chapel in Benton.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Lowe officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery in Commerce, Missouri.
