John Mark Scully, 54, of Sedalia, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 1995, at his home. He was born Jan. 31, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, son of Dr. Mark Finney and Pearl I. Golden Scully. His father was a former president of Southeast Missouri State University. He and the former Mary Ellen Hesskamp were married April 13, 1963, in Cape Girardeau...

John Mark Scully, 54, of Sedalia, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 1995, at his home.

He was born Jan. 31, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, son of Dr. Mark Finney and Pearl I. Golden Scully. His father was a former president of Southeast Missouri State University. He and the former Mary Ellen Hesskamp were married April 13, 1963, in Cape Girardeau.

Scully was a graduate of Central High School, Southeast University, and Washington University School of Law in St. Louis.

He was a captain and legal adviser with the Civil Air Patrol. He was a former mayor of Chanute, Kan., former associate city judge of Sedalia, and former municipal judge in Thayer, Erie and St. Paul, Kan. He was a member and elder of Broadway Presbyterian Church in Sedalia.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Heather Scully of Sedalia, Lt. Tracy Goding of Fayetteville, N.C.; his parents of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Robert Scully of Rockford, Ill., and a granddaughter.

Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Broadway Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Jeffrey K. London officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday at IOOF Cemetery in Charleston.

Friends may call at the church Thursday from 1 p.m. to service time.

McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Sedalia is in charge of arrangements.
