John Merton Baltz, 82, 1303 Perry, died Thursday, May 25, 1995, at the Lutheran Home.

He was born Feb. 10, 1913, at Rector, son of Thomas and Sarah Deatherage Baltz. He and Fern Light were married Nov. 11, 1944, in Salem, Ark.

Baltz moved here in 1948 from St. Louis. He was a truck driver with Standard Oil and Commercial Transport, retiring in 1975. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and had been an usher many years. He had been active in Boy Scouts, and was a former volunteer at Cape Senior Center.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dwain Baltz of St. Peters, Douglas Baltz of Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Barbara Baltz of Alexandria, Va.; three brothers, Jarus Baltz of Cabool, Burton Baltz of St. Louis, David Baltz of West Plains; a sister, Juana McClure of Springfield, and two grandchildren.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-7 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Neil Stein officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
