URBANDALE, Ill. -- John F. Lowder, 73, of Urbandale died Monday, March 30, 1998, at his home.

He was born Jan. 29, 1925, at Blodgett, Mo., son of William and Martha Huey Lowder.

Lowder was a retired riverboat captain. He was a member of Cairo United Pentecostal Church, and a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Bledsoe of St. Louis; two sisters, Ruth Burd of Lees Summit, Mo., and Mary Johnson of Arnold, Mo.

Funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Barkett Funeral Home in Mounds, with the Rev. Robert Burchyett officiating. Burial will be in the U.S. National Cemetery at Mound City.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
