JOHN KNOWLES JR.

PATTON -- John Vernon Knowles Jr., 76, of Patton, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 1996, at his home, following an illness.

He was born Jan. 30, 1920, at Patton, son of John Vernon and Emma Dean O'Kelly Knowles. He and Luella Schell were married April 20, 1940.

Knowles was a member of Patton Presbyterian Church, James-Younger Gang and Patton Community Cemetery Board.

Survivors include his wife; a son, John Knowles III of St. Louis; two daughters, Judith Ries and Gloria Driscoll of St. Louis; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Patton after 2 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Grant Gillard officiating. Burial will be in Patton Community Cemetery.
