John Russell Killian, 92, of Scott City died Thursday, April 21, 2016, at the Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
He was born July 30, 1923, in Chaffee, Missouri, to Frank J. and Vivian E. Johnson Killian. He married Jewell Eveline Carter on Feb. 24, 1946, in Zalma, Missouri. She preceded him in death Aug. 24, 2006.
He was a truck driver for ABF, Delta and Kimbel truck lines. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was a member of First Assembly of God in Scott City, the IOOF Lodge, Teamsters of Cape Local 600 and was a lifetime member of VFW Post 6407 in Scott City.
He is survived by five sons, Arnold (Connie) Killian of Scott City, Eddie (Ruth) Killian of New Bloomfield, Missouri, Jim (Brenda) Killian of Shelton, Washington, Steve (Beckie) Killian of Scott City and Rob Killian of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Evelyn Buffington of Scott City; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He also was preceded in death by a brother and a grandchild.
Services were held Saturday at Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City. Burial with full military honors was at Morgan Memorial Park Cemetery in Advance, Missouri.
