JOHN "J.T." TOWNSEND

EAST PRAIRIE -- John Thomas "J.T." Townsend, 65, of East Prairie died Saturday, May 30, 1992, at his home.

He was born Jan. 26, 1927, at Holiday, Tenn., the son of Otha and Beatrice Price Townsend. On Sept. 24, 1950, he married Violet Pugh, who survives of the home.

He lived in Chicago most his life, where he was employed at General Electric Company for 29 years. He lived in East Prairie the past five years, and was of the Pentecostal denomination.

Other survivors include two sons, Thomas and John Townsend, both of Chicago; three daughters, Katie Magers and Sara Salcedo, both of Chicago, and Jeanetta Taylor of East Prairie; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 5:30 p.m. today at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, where funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Leroy Thornton will officiate, burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
