John Edward Howard, 65, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born April 23, 1941, in Hayti, Mo., son of George Franklin and Elizabeth Hagaman Howard. He and Barbara Derrington were married March 18, 1965, in Germantown, Tenn.
Howard served with the Air Force in Korea and Vietnam.
He received an associate degree in refrigeration. He was a refrigeration engineer for the Seattle, Wash., plant of Frigoscandia in Sweden 15 years, and at Good Humor Ice Cream in Sikeston, Mo., three years.
Howard was a member of Rotary in Cape Girardeau and was of the Catholic belief.
He is survived by his wife of Cape Girardeau; a son, Paul T. (Ramona) Howard of O'Fallon, Mo.; a daughter, Susan K. (Jamey) Hall of Cape Girardeau; a granddaughter, Katelyn Hall of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; two brothers, David (Louise) Howard of Ballwin, Mo., Robert Howard of Cochise, Ariz.; four sisters, Theresa Steinacker and Annette (Dennis) Kraus of Rolla, Mo., Rita (Roger) Barnes and Dorothy Perkins of Van Buren, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Wanda Bowen of Jefferson City, Mo.; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, George, Joseph and James Howard; and a sister, Anella Herrington.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Hulshof officiating. Interment will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, at Bloomfield at a later date.
