MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- John R. Hoffman, 55, of Marble Hill died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, at his home.
He was born May 9, 1950, in Cape Girardeau, son of Frederick John William "J.W." Hoffman Jr. and Thelma Glenora Lacey Hoffman. He and Jeanne J. Masterson were married Nov. 19, 1994, in East Cape Girardeau, Ill.
Mr. Hoffman was a 1968 graduate of University High School in Cape Girardeau. He was owner and operator of Water Doctor, which he founded in 1986. He worked at Schaefer Water Centers from 1980 to 1986, and previously worked in the lawn and garden department at Sears.
He was a member of Capaha Car Club, was a car collector and an avid Mopar fan.
Survivors include his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Erin Hoffman of Leopold, Mo.; a sister, Sondra Smith of Springfield, Mo.; a nephew, Jason Barks of Springfield; two stepsons, Allen Savat of Webster Groves, Mo., Dereck Savat of Cape Girardeau; three brothers-in-law, Kenneth Masterson of Miller City, Ill., Jesse Masterson of Thebes, Ill., and Bruce Masterson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
