John Ace Hensley, 80, of Cape Girardeau passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011, at Saint Francis Medical Center. John was born Nov. 14, 1931, in Fornfelt to Marshall and Eva Davidson Hensley. He married Peggy Foulk, April 5, 1953, in Illmo. He is survived by his children, John David Hensley and wife Laura of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., and Jo Donna Priest and husband Charles of Marble Hill, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Renee McCallister and husband Donald of Newbern, Tenn., Damien Ewens and wife Krista of Columbia, Mo., Stephanie Day and husband Mike of Cape Girardeau, Tiffany Alexander and husband Gary of Newbern, Tenn., Wendi Jo Harper and husband Frank of Cape Girardeau, John Thomas Hensley and wife Celia of Dyersburg, Tenn., Tennie Asher and husband Chad of Newbern, Tenn., Chrissy Elliott and husband Chris of Jackson and Kristi Lynn Ewens of Cape Girardeau; and 15 great-grandchildren.. ...

John Ace Hensley, 80, of Cape Girardeau passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

John was born Nov. 14, 1931, in Fornfelt to Marshall and Eva Davidson Hensley. He married Peggy Foulk, April 5, 1953, in Illmo.

Also surviving are two brothers, Jim Hensley of Benton, Mo., and Toney Hensley and wife Shirley, also of Benton; a sister, Rebecca Moore and husband Roy of Benton; and a sister-in-law, Helen Hensley of Centralia, Ill.

He was proceeded in death by his wife; a son, Robert Dale Hensley; three sisters, Mary Lou Hensley, Anne Vincent and Ruth Welker; a brother, "Clif" Hensley; three brothers-in-law, Wilton Moore, Emmit Vincent and Rudy Welker; and a sister-in-law, Hazel Hensley.

John served in the U.S. Army as a demolitions expert during the Korean War.

He retired as printing press operator from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch in 1982. John was a member of Unity Baptist Church.

He loved spending time with his family and his dear friend Margie Casteel.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Amick Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City and from 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at Unity Baptist Church in Benton.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. at the church, with Brother Dennis Lowe officiating.

Burial will be at Unity Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors.
