John Travis Hanebrink, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, April 12, 1999, at Chateau Girardeau.
He was born May 30, 1913, at Egypt Mills, son of John Henry and Lucy Ruff Hanebrink. He and Eva Bucy were married April 21, 1936.
Hanebrink had been an officer with Cape Girardeau Police Department, and worked 12 years at Southeast Missourian Printing Co.
He moved to Carbondale, Ill., in 1957 and was bindery foreman at Southern Illinois University Printing Service until retiring in 1983.
The Hanebrinks had lived at Chateau since 1996. He served in the European Theater during World War II, receiving the Bronze Star and other honors. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, and former member of Louis K. Juden Post of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary Hanebrink of Charleston, Ill., Wayne Hanebrink of St. Louis; a brother, Clarence Hanebrink of Mayfield, Ky.; a sister, Lucille Jones of Nashville, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. John Owen officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
