CHAFFEE -- Funeral service for John H. Darby Sr. of Chaffee will be held at 2 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel here. The Rev. Charley Shrum will officiate, with burial in Union Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Darby, 96 years old, died Tuesday, March 19, 1991, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born April 6, 1894, at Blodgett, son of William and Mary Parker Darby.
Darby was an orderly at a VA Hospital in St. Louis 40 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church here, and served in the U.S. Army during World War I.
Survivors include two sons, John Darby Jr. of Chaffee, Jack Darby of Scott City; three daughters, Jane Mowery of Oak Ridge, Jean Goodman of Scott City, June Asmus of Chaffee; two brothers, Sylvester Darby of DeSoto, Jim Darby of Decatur, Ill.; 17 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
