BENTON -- Funeral mass for John Henry Bohannon of Benton will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Denis Catholic Church. The Rev. Art Basler will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Glen Bohannon. Burial will be in St. Denis Cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 6407 of Scott City.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Benton after 4 p.m. today. A prayer service will be held at 8.
Bohannon, 71, died Monday, June 7, 1993, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born April 6, 1922, at Sikeston, son of William Lee and Iva Mae Gray Bohannon Sr. He and the former Georgianna Robert were married Sept. 4, 1948.
Bohannon was owner/operator of Bohannon Cleaners in Scott City for 40 years. He was a member of St. Denis Church, Elks Lodge 1810 at Chaffee, VFW Post 6407, White House Retreat, past member of Benton Chamber of Commerce, and bank director at Security Bank and Trust of Scott City.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary Bohannon of Benton, Jeffrey Bohannon of Scott City; eight brothers, William Jr., Don and Clayton Bohannon of Sikeston, Gerald and J.L. Bohannon of St. Louis, Roy Bohannon of Decatur, Ill., Rev. Glen Bohannon of Richmond, Va., Larry Bohannon of Wilmington, Ohio; four sisters, Norma Pratt and Mabel Merrick of Sikeston, Dorothy Moore of Hartford, Ill., Iva Laub of Benton, and four grandchildren.
