WAPPAPELLO, Mo. -- John Franklin Griffin, 73, of Wappapello died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2001, at his home.
He was born Sept. 30, 1927, in McDougal, Ark., son of Paul K. and Martha Hays Griffin. He and Glenda R. Lancaster were married March 13, 1949, in Piggott, Ark.
Griffin was a welder and mechanic with Operating Engineers Local 513. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church at Wappapello, H.O. Grauel Masonic Lodge in Cape Girardeau, Order of Eastern Star, and lifetime member of VFW Post 6407 in Scott City, Mo.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jimmie Griffin of Scott City; two daughters, Beverly Griffin of Phoenix, Ariz., Melba Dees of Scott City; a brother, Sherman Griffin of Brownsville, Texas; three sisters, Wilma Conard of Hubert, N.C., Lillian Moore of Mt. Vernon, Ill., Alma Fugate of Wappapello; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Heisserer; two grandsons, Jonathan and Brandon Dees; a brother, Hilborn Griffin; two infant brothers; and two infant sisters.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel. The Rev. Jerry Capp will officiate. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery.
