MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- John W. Dickerson, 87, of Marble Hill passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter, Missouri.
He was born Oct. 14, 1929, in Jackson, the son of Frank and Grace Morrison Dickerson. He and Myra Kay Barks were united in marriage April 29, 1971.
John worked and retired as a repairman from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. after 35 years. He was a member of the Jackson American Legion and Elks and was a 32nd Degree Mason and a charter member of the Pioneer Telephone Co.
He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army and was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Myra Kay Dickerson of Marble Hill; a sister, Nancy Suhr of Cape Girardeau; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Mary Dell Wolf.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gerald Huff officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
