STURDIVANT, Mo. -- John Earl DeGroot, 74, of Sturdivant died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter, Mo.
He was born Dec. 4, 1926, at Fulton, Mo., son of William and Agans Gillispie DeGroot. He and Doris Williams were married June 5, 1948, at Broseley, Mo.
DeGroot was a retired farmer and factory worker. He was a member of Advance, Mo., VFW Post.
He served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jeffery DeGroot of Sturdivant; a daughter, Jacqueline Simmers of Zalma, Mo.; a sister, Marjorie Norma of Walled City, Mich.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons and a brother.
Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Earl Elfrink and Scott Payne officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
